We are an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school in the centre of Oldham with the vast majority of our pupils coming from the Coldhurst and Westwood wards.

Our school was designated a Visual Arts College in 2002 and we were granted a second specialism in Language in 2006 following the news that the DfES had awarded us High Performing Specialist School status.

A hard working dedicated and professional workforce ensures that all pupils are given every opportunity to reach their maximum potential and we try to develop an ethos in the school whereby all pupils and staff are learners.

We give staff development a high priority and we have Investor in People status.

The school has made tremendous progress over the past few years and we were named as the 4th best school in the country by the DfES (2002-2005).

We were also named the best Visual Arts College in the country by the Specialist Schools Trust based on the value added measure Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 and we have been members of the Specialist Schools’ Trusts’ Most Value Added Club and Most Improved Club for three years in a row.

We were the first secondary school in Oldham to achieve the Basic Skills Quality Mark.
