Dr Kershaws ceramic workshops

During the Summer Term Dr. Kershaw’s day care patients visited Grange on Friday Afternoons to take part in ceramics workshops with Mrs Hill.
Each patient has created their own vessel and work is ongoing until the beginning of October.
Workshops ‘have had a huge impact on day hospice and the provision of holistic care. The sense of achievement gained through participation (direct and indirect) impacts positively and profoundly on patient’s quality of life, feeling of self worth and feeling of being valued. The finished work is generally treasured by the patients and their family and in some instances has given bereaved families something to cherish and to remember their loved one by.

The ceramics group has enjoyed the experience of working with clay and designing their own work. Some have expressed an interest in pursuing this further.
One comment ‘I think I’ve found something I can be good at’.
