Painters, like writers, have a basic vocabulary with which to create their art. Writers have words. Painters have formal or visual elements. there are 7 basic units of formal elements Line, Colour, Tone, Structure & Form, Texture, pattern and Shape these are the means artists use to create and design works of art.
