Short summary of MFL courses followed by years 7 to 11:
At KS2: We work alongside 4 primary partner schools to help them develop language skills in different groups of year 5 and year 6 pupils.
At KS3: Pupils in year 7, 8 and 9 study French for 3 hours per week.

Fast-Track GCSE in French: Most able pupils are offered the opportunity to take GCSE in year 9. They follow the AQA course.

From September 2007:

More pupils will be taking an early GCSE. (the number will increase each year)

More languages will be offered.

Pupils in year 8 will have the opportunity to get a qualification in a community language.
At KS4:

Pupils who choose the language option can be entered for one or two languages and gain 2 GCSEs. They carry on with the language they have followed in KS3 but can also be entered for Bangla / Urdu / Gujerati provided they can read and write this language.

We aim to give the opportunity to all pupils in year 10 to choose a language they will study for 1 hour each week and gain another qualification in languages.
